AI in Educational Leadership

Date
Thursday, 26 February 2026 • 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM
Locations
Whangarei, Northland
New Plymouth, Taranaki
Queenstown, Otago

t’s no secret that leadership in Aotearoa’s education sector feels a bit like standing in the surf - just as you find your footing with one change, the next wave rolls in. Right now, that wave is AI, and while the potential is huge, the pressure to "get it right" can feel heavy.
The Leaders’ AI Wave Summit isn't about adding more to your plate or listening to tech-talk that doesn't translate to a busy school day. It’s a chance to step away from the admin and the emails to look at how we can actually ride this wave rather than getting dumped by it.
We’re keeping the focus on the realities of leading in our unique local context:
Strategic calm: Moving from a reactive "what do we do about ChatGPT?" stance to a proactive strategy that fits your school’s specific values and community.
The human element: AI can handle data, but it can’t lead people. We’re looking at how these tools can actually free up your time for the high-trust, face-to-face moments that matter most.
Equity and ethics: How do we ensure no student is left behind in this shift? We’ll have honest conversations about digital equity and what responsible AI use looks like in our classrooms.
Collective wisdom: You’ll be in a room with other tumuaki and leaders who are navigating the same challenges. It’s about sharing what’s working (and what isn't) in a space that understands the NZ landscape.
If you’re looking for a practical, grounded way to lead your staff and students into the future, we’d love to see you there. No jargon, no hype, just a day to plan the way forward, together.
