AI in the Classroom is a two-part Brightstar training course that helps principals, school leaders and educators handle the policy, governance and classroom use of AI in New Zealand schools and kura. Day 1 covers AI governance, policy and strategy, with participants building their own AI-powered digital strategy assistant and leaving with a draft AI policy and digital strategy. Day 2 focuses on using tools such as Copilot, Gemini and NotebookLM safely and ethically to enhance learning, teaching and assessment, and is facilitated by Danny Bedingfield, a Microsoft Certified Trainer, Google Certified Coach and Apple Professional Learning Specialist.
The Christchurch course runs on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 November 2026 at Sudima, Christchurch, from 9am (coffee and registration from 8:30am) until about 4:30-5pm each day. Participants can book one or both days, with tickets from $1,199 + GST per person, and should bring a laptop with internet access. Day 2 on its own is intended for educators whose school already has an AI policy in place.
