SUMMARY:Reverse Engineering old games for fun and ... fun? by Hugh Davenport
DESCRIPTION:Sec for Devs\, a Wellington community for developers who want to learn about and discuss secure coding\, hosts a talk by Hugh Davenport on reverse engineering old games. He'll take the audience on a journey from the 1990s to 2026\, describing a project that reverse engineered an old DOS game to build a level editor\, with some assembly language\, dragons\, the odd spider and plenty of retro graphics along the way. Hugh is an experienced security professional who has worked as a developer\, a penetration tester and a system administrator.\n\nThe talk is on Wednesday 21 October from 5pm to 6:30pm at InternetNZ\, Level 13\, 18 Willis Street\, Wellington\, with entry open until 5:30pm. It's free with an RSVP on Meetup (limited to 70 places)\, and suits developers\, security practitioners and anyone keen to network with like-minded people.
